• INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION

THE FOUNDATION OF GEORGIA TECH’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM IS THE COACHING STAFF’S COMMITMENT TO PLAYER DEVELOPMENT.  INDIVIDUAL WORKOUTS INCLUDE DRILLS TO IMPROVE SHOOTING, BALL HANDLING, POST MOVES, FOOTWORK, AGILITY AND STAMINA.  EACH INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM IS TAILORED TO FIT THE NEEDS OF EACH STUDENT-ATHLETE.

    PRE-SEASON

Preseason individual workouts begin on the second week of class in the fall.  The coaching staff focuses on skill development and comprehension of the game.  In addition, strength and conditioning coach Mike Bewley conducts regular sessions to improve each player’s strength, agility, speed, jumping and flexibility, and employs state-of-the-art technology to gather data on each individuals work capacity.  In the preseason, Tech players work on strength, conditioning and agility drills three times a week.

    DURING THE SEASON

During the basketball season, weightlifting is cut back to ensure sufficient rest and no loss of training gains.  Individual workouts concentrate on shooting, while team practices afford the Tech players the opportunity to learn and work with the entire squad and coaching staff.
